As advertised, this light produces an EXTREMELY smooth spectrum, without the strong blue peak and turquoise dip common to most LED bulbs. I see absolutely no detectable flicker from this bulb in a 1000fps video recording.

Best Purchase Ever! We installed the two Sunsy 4000K bulbs in our living room and bedroom and the two 5700K bulbs in our office and kitchen. Living in Chicago, where winter darkness hits by 4:00 p.m., these bulbs have been an absolute game-changer. After trying countless light bulbs over the years, these are by far the best!

This lightbulb is so expensive because it is supposed to deliver light that is more akin to actual daylight. To the naked eye, this bulb can't be observed to flicker less, but just just a video camera app on your phone and the difference is noticeable.

This lightbulb is really nice! I got the 2700K one and it has a perfect warm feel for the evening, we really like it. When you hold the bulb it feels like its built like a tank. To be honest, the packaging is so nice that it hurt to throw away. It comes with an amazing pamphlet to explain why this bulb is better than others and mimics the sun. Great product!

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What are the benefits of using sunlight mimicking light bulbs?

The Sun has numerous benefits, and since we're so similar, so does Shine!

  • A healthier more aligned circadian rhythm
  • No flicker and a more even spectrum means less eye strain, fatigue and damage from blue light spikes
  • Better mood regulation and sense of wellbeing
  • Improved energy and sleep quality
  • More red light ensures human skin looks natural and balances out blue light

And much more!

Does Shine emit UV or infrared light?

Shine bulbs don't emit UV or infrared light, you'll still need the Sun for those!

Our focus is on visible light, and if we included UV and/or IR LEDs our lights would be very dim, and nobody wants that!

How do you use Sunsy Shine lights?

Use them just like you would use any other light bulb!

The 4000K and 5700K versions emit quite a bit of short wavelength light (the kind that wakes you up) so those are best used in the morning and during the day.

While the 2700K version is quite a bit warmer (less blue light) and can be used in the evening if you'd like.

Are these lights dimmable?

Yes! Our bulbs have been tested and verified to work with many different dimmers.

What does "flicker-free" mean?

Shine lights have <1% flicker.

Many LEDs and even incandescent lights flicker invisibly as the AC current from your home is used to power the bulb.

This means that while you visually perceive a steady light source, the light is actually changing in brightness many times per second, which can irritate your eyes and brain.

Sunsy Shine lights use high quality power drivers to ensure that the AC current becomes a very steady DC current by the time it reaches the LEDs.

This gives you a very steady flat brightness, just like the Sun!

And that means no more strainheadachesmigraines, or fatigue.

Why do Sunsy Shine lights cost so much more than regular lights?

With our thicker aluminum, thermal potting silicone, next-generation broad-spectrum SunLike diodes, and flicker-free, dimmable constant current drivers, the cost of manufacturing these is quite a bit higher than for normal lights!

You get extremely healthy, long-lasting lighting, but you do have to pay for it 😜

I thought incandescent lights were the healthiest?

While it's true that incandescent bulbs do produce a nice full spectrum light, they have a few problems:

  1. All incandescents flicker at around 7%, this is far more than the Sun and our lights.
  2. Incandescent lights emit a warm 2700K color temperature, which means they contain very little short-wavelength light — the type that helps wake us up and regulate our circadian rhythm. This is fine in the evening, but during the day you'll want either the 4000K or 5700K Shine bulbs by your side.
  3. The vast majority of energy from incandescents is infrared light or heat, so it takes significantly more energy to achieve the same amount of brightness as an LED.
